Email-address harevesting

I saw an interesting question about email address harvesting:
robots.txt usage against email-address harvesting - LinkieLinkie Forum

Can the robots.txt also be used against the crawlers/spiders who grab email-addresees from websites: the so called "email-address harvesting"?

Does anybody know the answer?
